ABOUT THIS TERRITORY

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is Uganda's most celebrated wildlife destination, located in South Western Uganda. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's most biodiverse ecosystems, Bwindi's mist-shrouded ancient forest harbours over 400 mountain gorillas — more than half of the world's total population. The park is divided into four gorilla trekking sectors: Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija, and Rushaga. Beyond gorillas, Bwindi hosts 350 bird species including 23 Albertine Rift endemics, 120 mammal species, and over 1,000 flowering plants. A gorilla trekking permit here is among the most coveted wildlife experiences on the planet.
