Known as the Primate Capital of the World, Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda hosts the world's largest population of wild chimpanzees — approximately 5,000 individuals — along with 12 other primate species. Located in the heart of the Tooro Kingdom near Fort Portal, Kibale is the best place in Africa to encounter chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The park is also home to black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L'Hoest monkeys, olive baboons, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. The adjacent Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary offers 200 additional bird species and extraordinary primate encounters.
