Kibale Forest National Park is the best place for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda, home to five habituated chimpanzee troops within easy walking distance from the Kanyanchu trailhead. Chimpanzee troops in Kibale Forest are pretty dramatic and very calm around tourists, and observing them here is a rare treat.

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or on arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our representative (your driver-guide) who will brief you about the safari and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park on a journey of approximately 5 hours with a stopover for lunch in Fort Portal Town – the tourism city of Uganda thanks to its beautiful landscape dominated by Rwenzori Mountains.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon and spend the rest of the day at rest, getting ready for the next day's adventure. Have dinner and overnight stay. Overnight at Kibale Forest Camp. Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience in Kibale Forest

After breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to the briefing area – the park headquarters where a senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the chimpanzees, registration and allocation of a chimpanzee community to trek.

You will be led by a ranger guide through the forest in search for chimpanzees, the trek takes approximately 2–4 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night. When you locate the chimpanzee troop, spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other. Return to the starting point, meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge for lunch and short rest. In the afternoon you will explore the Bigodi Village, where you will have an opportunity to visit the Bigodi Swamp with abundant butterflies, plants, animals and spectacular birds. Take a village walk, enjoy a coffee experience, banana beer making, basket making and traditional healer. Overnight at Kibale Forest Camp. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 3: Departure

Today marks the end of your safari, after a delicious breakfast at your lodge, you will check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch. Your driver-guide will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight, bringing your safari to an end.
