5 Days Murchison Falls and Gorilla Trekking
This 5 Days Murchison Falls and Gorilla Trekking safari takes you on an exploration journey to Uganda's most visited national parks — Murchison Falls National Park for game viewing with lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for trekking mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
Day 1: Entebbe – Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or on arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our driver-guide and embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking on foot. Continue with en-route lunch in Masindi, then enter the park and head to the top of Murchison Falls — the world's most powerful waterfall — before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge. Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Day 2: Explore Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, head out for a game drive along the Northern Circuit in search of Nubian giraffes, buffaloes, lions, spotted hyenas, elephants, Uganda kobs, hartebeests, warthogs, oribi, Bohor's reedbucks and many more, along with bird species including black-headed lapwing, blue-headed coucal, giant kingfisher and swamp flycatcher. Return to your lodge for lunch, then in the afternoon go for a boat cruise on the River Nile heading to the bottom of Murchison Falls. Along the way see hippos and crocodiles in the water, elephants and buffaloes along the shores, and stop below the falls to watch the river squeeze through the narrow gorge before falling down with a thunderous roar. Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake up early for breakfast, check out and embark on a journey south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Enjoy stops at points of interest for photography and stretching, with scenic views of Lake Albert, the Rwenzori ranges, Kibale Forest, the beautiful crater lakes and the western Albertine Rift Valley. Enjoy en-route lunch and arrive in Bwindi in the evening for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Four Gorillas Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience
After breakfast, be driven to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave in the presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the emerald rainforests of Bwindi — the trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas watching them play, feed and groom each other. Return to the park headquarters, then in the evening go for a cultural experience in the Batwa Village where you will be entertained by local dances and drama, taste local dishes and interact with the elders. Accommodation: Four Gorillas Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, check out and embark on a journey back to Kampala with a stop at the Equator for pictures and in Mbarara for lunch. Proceed to Entebbe where you will be dropped off at the airport to catch your flight back home or to your next destination.
